Overview SEARCH AND RESCUE (SAR) INSURANCE PLANS
SAR insurance plans offer financial reimbursement for qualified expenses related to search and rescue. SAR insurance coverage requires the use of a supported device with an active subscription to report an emergency that warrants search and rescue to the Garmin Response℠ center (such as triggering an SOS on your inReach device)1. Reimbursement of covered rescue expenses is based on the selected SAR insurance plan.
SAR INSURANCE OPTIONS
All three SAR insurance plan offerings are listed below and include up to $100,000 USD in reimbursement for covered rescue costs and a $5,000 USD accidental death and dismemberment benefit. The SAR High Risk plan includes additional activities done below 5,000 meters2, while the SAR High Altitude plan includes activities done above 5,000 meters3.

You can purchase multiple SAR insurance plans to cover family members, friends or others in your group. At the time of purchase, you’ll simply need to enter the names of the additional individuals you want to insure – and provide a named beneficiary (who will receive certain insurance policy benefits if the insured cannot) for each person you add5.

Insurance Policy, including the Search and Rescue Benefit Rider (collectively, the “SAR Insurance Program”), is entirely optional.
The insurance coverage provided under the SAR Insurance Program is underwritten by the licensed insurance company listed on the certificate provided and issued through licensed insurance producers, including Lockton Companies and Garmin Insurance Services LLC (collectively, the “Insurance Producers”).
The Insurance Producers may earn a commission or otherwise be compensated for their role in making the SAR Insurance Program available to you. The SAR Insurance Program is not available in all jurisdictions and coverage is governed by the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions set forth in the Group Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance Policy and Search and Rescue Benefit Rider.
